It's official, I do not get the fandom Damon love (other than "he's hot").
Granted, I've only watched the Pilot and the S2 opener, and for all I know, Damon spent the rest of TVD eps saving puppies and healing children. But I doubt it.
Because going on the evidence I have before me, the guy is an unrepentant mass murderer, and not in the past tense, the way Spike was in the seasons of Buffy they decided to develop them as a potential couple (for the record, I never shipped Buffy/Spike either, for the same reason - unrepentant killer is not a good OTP material).
Nah, there is nothing past tense about Damon's blood sports. He's going at it right now.
I can totally get not liking Stefan or not wanting Elena/Stefan - everyone finds different things appealing. But how anyone can either ship or see any realistic potential for Elena/Damon honestly puzzles me (once again, unless it's in a dirty!bad!wrong!hookup kind of way - the way people used to write Buffy/Angelus fics back way when). The man is a serial killer. Sure, he's an interesting character, but so is Jack the Ripper and he isn't normally considered shippable!
I mean - do you really want Elena (or any woman, for that matter) to become part of a couple with a guy who kills her brother just because he's feeling a bit down?
Really?
Do. Not. Get.
Off to watch S1.
