If the first two eps of Sungkyunkwan Scandal rendered me madly in love, eps 3 and 4 reduced me to a state of incoherent gibbering at the screen, complete with spazzy hand-gestures.
IT IS SO VERY AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING, you guys. Seriously. Now, I am always partial to period dramas, especially the fusion ones (they are in the running for my favorite genre together with revenge stories) but even saying that, this one is exceptional. I continue to fall more and more for Yoon Hee (how wonderful is she? I love that she gets terrified of student body president and begs Sun Joon to change his immovable stance - that's realistic, especially with her secret, but I also love how strong she is - no wonder Cho Son is going to femslash fall for her - she is a lot like SJ in that she does the right thing no matter the cost, only unlike SJ she may think about it first because, unlike him, she has experienced the true cost and hardships). And oh, Sun Joon. I have SUCH a huge crush on him, it's ridiculous. He continues to be stubborn/kind/righteous/competent/unflappable. LOVE HIM. Loved how he was willing to be mistreated/ridiculed to protect Secondary Girl's (who is very entertaining) good name, love how he manages not to be arrogant about his "I am right" stance. Love everything about him. Also, there is no way he is not in love with Yoon Hee by now, even if he doesn't realize it. There is no way anyone treats just a friend that way - the way he desperately asks her what she thinks about his actions (after telling her he doesn't care what anyone else thinks), the way he teases her with her new nickname, the way he wakes her up (who wakes up a guy friend by pillowing them on your shoulder in romance-novel pose?). And then there is this. Indeed. It makes me think of Magadheeera :)
I am also really really liking Yoo Ah In's 'rebel with a cause' character though I really wish he'd get a shave and a haircut. I confess I am puzzled by the fandom love for Song Joong Ki's character. He annoys me incredibly, with his permanent smirk and his unthinking curelty and his games. Ugh. I wonder if it's because people find him hot (the way I find student body president hot and so love him even though I shouldn't). Perhaps if I saw him take one thing seriously...
In other news, had time to watch ep 2 of Mischievous Kiss and it's so very wonderful. Its ridiculous rating is a shame. It's bright and funny and shippy (I love the chemistry between the leads), and I love that they made Hani tougher/smarter/not clingy and Seung Jo, while still brainy and icy, rather warmer and nicer than their TWdrama counterparts. I really like that.
Oh, and if you want to know the moment I decided to rabidly ship the leads? It was this:
Yup, Seung Jo's little pleased grin as he was walking away from Hani yelling her thanks for tutoring her onto the honor roll.
It is so good.
