Did you lose all semblance of speech? Hee. And I see you are marathoning Giant. I thought you were going to savor this baby! Teasing you! That was about my reaction, and I've watched that scene like 56 times now. Abouts.
It was all so very awesome. Though I have to say the whole sequence gave me complete EoE overtones - not only did they run away to be together, but they did it at the shore. There was even the bit where he told her to leave, thought she did, was despondent, but it turned out she didn't. (I gotta say, Giant has major EoE vibes - when Gangmo was yelling "Hyung" at his bro with the hugging, I started cracking up because I remembered the hugging/shouting sessions in EoE - man, if EoE had an American fanbase, the slash would have been through the roof).
I think I *gasp* liked EoE's sequence better (though I adored Giant's) probably because it was such a huge thing when he finally told Grace he loved her - because we the audience almost knew it, but not quite, and he really needed to get it out, and she was so ecstatic to hear it. But here, the gender roles are reversed and I guess PJH's cold vibe never really gave me the feeling she loved him before this (she just realized it in fact) and he hasn't been trying to
( ... )
Hahaha, I totally can see that. Bc the stupid writers in EoE decided to split the main girl into two characters, LDH and LYH, it totally screwed with my head. (1) I don't much like LYH, she's not a very good actress, so I was just waiting for her section to end to get to LDH, who I was told was the OTP, then (2) they shelved the LDH storyline (she had such a weak story line to begin with, who are we kidding), so it was already too late for me to feel invested in Grace/Dong Chul
( ... )
MAJOR. MAJOR EOE vibes, but they did more. And I like that.
I watched EOE mainly for LDH. It was her first ~srsbzns~ role in a long, long time. Then I waited... and waited... and waited... I was even desperate for her to just turn evil crazy bitch whatever even though it was not with Dong Chul ... anything. But LOL, nothing. Too bad though because she was good in the first few episodes she paraded in.
Then later on, you can tell with her doe eyes that she had this total WTF look in her. As if telling us, the audience, "Hi. I am Lee Da Hae... and I'm walking the dog. I'm walking the effing dog. This is my scene. Dennis Oh has a better character than mine. Hi. See this dog? Cute. Now I have a plant. Hi."
It was painfully embarrassing watching her there. I think if they have stuck through making Grace-Hye rin one character like they planned, they would have had less conflict.
That said, I was actually heartbroken with the Dong Wook-Ji Hyun storyline because I wanted her to cheat.
When you said "they did more" do you mean Giant did more than EoE? What perchance are we talking about the "doing' of? :-D
Yeah, LDH's character should have never existed in EoE. See, she needed to exist bc she was supposed to date DC then DW, hence setting up an additional layer of brotherly rivalry. I was looking forward to that. But once it was clear for whatever the reason DW and Grace was going to happen, then they should have kept her with DC.
Then everyone would have gotten their OTP. Sigh, EoE, you still make my head hurt.
No, I didn't want JH to check on rapist reformed brother, since they had a kid together. I wouldn't mind if brother died, then she and kid married DC.

Re: DW/JH - oh yes, me too. I still get a bit emo when I think of the scene of him banging on the glass, trying to get in to her, after finding out she was raped.
See, for me, an OK performance of a character I really love will trump a good performance of a character I don't find interesting. And Grace's is much more my character type. I was bored/irritated with LDH's character from the moment she appeared which, seeing that going in, she and Han Ji Hye were the only actors in all of EoE I was familiar with, is quite something.
I didn't expect Dong Chul/Grace to become canon but I found myself shipping them despite my common sense and couldn't stop. Basically, I wanted DC with Grace and DW with Ji Hyun and Hye Rin seemed a spoiled brat I wanted off my screen (thankfully LDH redeemed herself in my eyes in Chuno. I loved her in it).
