Summer Desire - ep 2. Get thee to a therapist!

Jun 07, 2010 00:40

Watched everything but the last 15 minutes of ep 2 of Summer Desire (the last 15 mins are not yet subbed).

I am so addicted to this - it's basically as if Elinor Glyn was writing now instead of in the 1920s and was Taiwanese :P

I must confess that I am sort of shipping Xiamo with Ou Chen now. I still prefer her with Luo Xi but when she ends up with Ou Chen it won't bug me any more. For one thing they have a great deal of chemistry (Barbie has oodles of chemistry with both her leading men), but mainly because the flashbacks show that they may have had an odd relationship but it was one that (a) clearly worked for them and (b) she was totally boss in it - I think because she is so good at manipulating people* and also because while she genuinely liked him and was happy with him, he was about 500% more invested in the relationship than she was.

Or maybe I am just amused at the concept of Ou Chen sewing that hair ribbon of hers, then embroidering it, doing applique and needlepoint. LOLOLOL

* I love how cold-blooded and manipulative she is. In their high school/college days she basically led her bf by the nose whichever way she wanted and now, I loved that when she showed up for that audition she made the cut on her leg way worse and made it bleed so he would feel sorry for her and be more inclined to hire her. If you think about it, she is manipulating her super-powerful amnesiac ex whose amnesia she is responsible for and with whom, before their nowadays meeting, she broke up by telling him to go die as he was left begging and kneeling in the rain. That takes SEVERE balls. She is basically all "he doesn't remember me but he still rushed to protect me from gangsters and insisted on carrying me around. Let's take advantage of those subconscious feelings to get $$$." I approve. I really think that is how she expresses the damage of her background - she WILL do anything to get ahead and she is not able to genuinely get close to anyone except for her little brother - her warning to Luo Xi not to give her his heart because she will just use him and that tomorrow she can love someone else, isn't her being flirty - she means it. (Of course, since Luo Xi has his own brand of damage to him this just means he has to try to win her love even more and make sure she never leaves).

TO SUM UP - XIAMO, LUO XI AND OU CHEN DO NOT NEED A DATE. THEY NEED ABOUT A DECADE OF THERAPY. EACH.

P.S. If they won't settle for an angsty dysfunctional hot OT3, I have a suggestion. They could have a sword duel! After all, both Huang Xiaoming and Peter Ho did enough period dramas to know how to wield a blade in their sleep!

ETA: Oh girl, be smart! If he is asking you if you knew each other before and if you used to date, don't deny it! I mean, it's not as if you are moving to Timbuktu - you plan to work for his company - what if the truth gets exposed later? The dude is going to justifiably flip and do you really want to deal with that?

ETA2: OK, you win, drama. It was totally sweet when he accepted it as truth that they didn't know each other before but asked her if she could stay by his side now and kissed her hand. AWWWWWWWWW. Xiamo, grab him, he's filthy rich and will come in handy in rescuing you from gangsters. Plus, you don't have to worry about wearing out your shoes as he seems to like carrying you around all the time. Just think of the money you'd save on footwear! :P
