Also, it's official - there are some actors whom I will never watch - they've been ruined for me forever - I was thinking about the recently started Smile You. Normally I'd be all over a cute romcom Korean take on the Taiwanese delight "Corner with Love," especially since the ( Read more... )

I have to admit that 2nd teaser was almost, somewhat of a letdown, on the heels of the awesome, 6 min. long, spoiler-heavy making behind the scenes. But that's b/c that BTS feature was so d@mn good--they sure know how to edit & whet our appetites.

Here's the translation btw, if you're interested:

Baek San: You have a separate mission.

Kim HyunJoon: If what's happened to me was intended by someone...

Kim SunHwa: Ambulance!

Kim HyunJoon: ... I don't know why I had to be the target.

Park ChulYoung: We've found him.

Kim HyunJoon: As I went on the run, I called the person who betrayed me.

Kim HyunJoon: That I will return alive.

Choi SeungHee: Tell me! Deputy Director!

Baek San: Go home on the first flight.

Jin SaWoo: Why must he be killed? I'll rescue him & bring him back.

Baek San: If you keep wavering, I must abandon you too.

Heads will roll if IRIS doesn't live up to the hype. But the cast seems fairly confident. FYI, they've got 10-11 eps. in the can.

re: Smile, You: I do hope it does well, even moderately. It's the director/writer team behind Last Scandal (Lee Min Jung's elder sister = DongHwa's OTP), and I also like some of the vets. But just from a distance, the leads aren't doing much for me, ie. 'let's put in the extra effort to check it out.'

Thank you for the translation! If they have 10-11 eps filmed, I wonder if it's going to be a crazy time crunch to film it at the end - they've been filming for months already.

They'll probably, most likely film through their broadcast run, maybe even to the end, but if they're worried about it, they're not showing it. Sure, they aren't getting much sleep, but they're keeping their engagement & personal appearances outside IRIS, and both cast & crew seem fairly confident & lucid about what they've done so far & where they're headed. That seemed more obvious in recent weeks than at their first press conference last May, when it didn't seem like they had really gelled yet as a team. And given the scale & scope of IRIS, it may be pointless to draw comparisons with the other k-dramas on air or in production, but cast & crew come across as, well, efficient and competent. You don't see the cracks & tensions with some of the rushed productions, and it certainly doesn't feel rudderless. So I think they've got what it takes--a well-oiled operation--to meet the deadlines and not suffer the worst of time-crunches, but whether the end result will appeal to the viewers is a different matter, I suppose.

That's true - they do have a veteran team. Hope the quality of the script is good because if it is, we are really really set. (I was one of the few people who liked Lobbyist, but I wouldn't want Lobbyist mark 2).
