Catch-All Post of the Day (slightly delayed)

Jul 27, 2009 16:00

I posted this early in the morning and was puzzled to discover there were no comments. Have my flisters abandoned me, moaned I?

And then I realized I set it to private. Because I am clever that way.

Anyway, here it is, reposted.

1. Ahahahaaa. I get amused at how elitist/paranoid jdrama subbers on d-addicts get (the whole - you can't sub a drama if we already started, even if we are 20 eps behind; you can only start subbing from ep 1 and sub the entirety, instead of picking up where we left off, worship us blahblah) when viikii made kdrama subs so freaking accessible - it's a total free-for-all with everyone subbing anything they feel like it (some popular shows have 30 translators per 10 minute segment - people sub one line or whatever) and it makes it so wonderful and easy and fast. I appreciate the hard work subbers do (and try to leave my thanks every time I get the downloadable subs), but nobody has died because of viikii :) I think kdrama communities spoil me.

2. Has anybody noticed that Kdrama Heroes can be divided into two categories - Category A are men who treat the heroine as if she were made of spun glass or on a pedestal far above them. They might ditch her (always to protect her or similar) but they would quite happily turn themselves into a carpet so she can walk without dirtying her feet. They are usually the most macho ones, happily facing an enemy across the battlefield or, at least, the boardroom. For examples, check out the Four Seasons dramas, anything starring Lee Byung Hun, Song Il Gook, Lee Seo Jin, or most period or revenge dramas.

Category B are quite different: they might be 20, 30, or even 40, but inside they are still 12 years old and the best way to show the woman you like her is pull her pigtails. They get bossy to express their feelings, they bicker with the heroine non-stop, and growing up is something they need to do. See dramas like Full House, Last Scandal, Lawyers of Korea, Brilliant Legacy, Goong etc etc.

I normally prefer Category A in fiction but it might get tiresome to deal with "I am unworthy, can I worship you some more" attitude in real life after a while. Dragon-slaying is wonderful, but being able to cheer you up after you are grumpy because your favorite purse got lost is more important.

Which one do you prefer?

3. I bring you awesome caps (and some not-as-awesome thoughts :D) from eps 10-12 of Last Scandal. I am so addicted!

He can always cheer her up, even after she found out the truth about her scumbag husband! He is also as good as his word. Now she is quit of her husband, he is totally going for her full-tilt.

AWWWWWWW.

He is so proud he is cooking his own breakfast!

And he takes her in for lasic surgery as a present and totally freaks out she is going to be in pain while she is doing it. Heeee.

He totally digs when she is blind after it for a bit and has to feel her way around :P

Look how pleased he is when she clutches him not to go!

I think I sort of exploded here when he cooks for her and spoonfeeds her (and awwww, he is totally moved by her matter-of-fact comment that nobody has cooked for her before. DIESCUMBAGHUSBANDDIE).

And he asks her to tell him what else she's never done so he'd do it for her. Seriously. OMG. (She starts sniffling at that and she isn't supposed to cry, so he is trying to roll her tears back :P)

Melt melt melt:

He sneaks in to take her bandages off so he'll be the first thing she sees and imprint on him (I am not kidding, he says that).

And tags after her to a restaurant, faking a fan event to get near her :)

Say it with me, awwwwww!

Her scumbag ex shows and accuses her of being a whore. Jae Min wants to punch him out but Sun Hee won't let him as the scumbag is her daughter's father.

So when Jae Min is distracted, Scumbag punches him instead.

Oh My GOD. "When I am like this, it doesn't hurt." And he won't let her go.

And she asks him to be just a friend and a dream (i.e. not a significant other). Awww - I am sure she is so overwhelmed with it all, she can't feel up to dating, especially with their respective life situations. OMG.

But he is still holding on:

I love the confrontation between brothers! Jae Bin is totally rejecting the idea because he's a star he can't be with Sun Hee (honestly, the whole thing with Asian stars not being able to hook up is insane to me as a Westerner). I do wonder why he reverts to his star persona/workaholic after finding out about Hoon (later). Is it because he feels that this is all that's left - too much has been sacrificed for him to give it up - if he gave it up it would mean the loss of his son (which was decided for him) was for nothing. Or maybe he is worried it would hurt Sun Hee as much as it 'hurt' Hoon?

Awww, they can't sleep thinking of each other:

He thinks Secondary Girl is Sun Hee. Unclean!!!

I loved the scene of her washing his arm - she is not even trying to hide it from his brother or anything.

They are so adorable together!

He is such a dork!

And then the evil bitch Na Yoon tells him about Hoon. Cause she is miffed he is having a good time.

Aww, this was sniffle-worthy.

He tries to take them back to when they were 19. She doesn't know it but it's sort of a farewell to them...

The biggest awwww ever:

And she comes back and finds him in the dark, and he clutches her and whispers "I am so scared." AWWW.

I need LS icons.
