Calling all Jang Geun-Seok fans
I know I have plenty on my flist :)
Apparently he's been cast as the lead of the Hong Sisters' next drama, You’re Beautiful, the one about the lives of idol singers.
Woo-Hoo! The Hong Sisters (Delightful Girl Chun-Hyang, My Girl, Fantasy Couple, Hong Gil Dong) can do no wrong in my eyes and I will watch their next drama even if it's about pig farming and enacted by sock-puppets.
However, a drama about the crazy world of kpop and starring Emo Prince (the only thing I've seen JGS in was Hong Gil Dong) is even better.
I like JGS just fine - I am not fangirly over him (mainly because I thought Kang Ji Hwan blew him out of the water in HGD, but then KJH is my favorite Korean actor so comparisons are perhaps unfair) but he is quite good. And this role couldn't really have anyone over 25, seeing the way kpop is. The only other 'young' actors I like are Kim Bum (who has a drama of his own about to air, Dream), Jung Il Woo (ditto, with Take Care of the Lady) and Lee Min Ho (I would have KILLED to see him in a Hong Sisters drama but he is much much too masculine to play a kpop idol).
So - yay!
Though seeing it's an October Wednesday-Thursday drama, it means it's going to go head-to-head with IRIS and I suspect it will be slaughtered. I mean, IRIS doesn't only have an all-star cast and had money poured all over it via a funnel, it's also Lee Byung Hun's first drama since 2003 (!!!)
Lucky me, I'll be able to watch both (though, I confess, if I had to pick only one, it would also be IRIS).
