I agree with you so much... it's ART and finally, I can hold my head up to work colleagues and point to this and say that not everything i watch is crap! :)
I am up to ep 4 and i think i can safely say that NOT A SINGLE THING, NOT A SINGLE SHOT is wasted. Every detail has been carefully thought out, and is there for a reason, to convey some emotion, or some information, nothing, absolutely nothing is wasted, or surplus to requirement. i am having to intersperse this with Lee Dong Wook's Partner so as not to max up on Art. :)
That scene where Dong Soo is sitting alone surrounded by art, means more to me 4 eps in. And yah, that scene was so intense i think i rewinded it about 4 or 5 times, just to soak it up properly. Lee Min Joon and Hyun Bin are absolutely brilliant in this, and have not put a foot wrong. Yep, Hyun Bin is actually scaring me in this too! As for the time loops, I actually love it and this director, i think i'm half in love with him already! He put 3 hot guys in this, got fantastic performances out of them and dishes out fanfirly moments in ep 4. The guys strip off and trust me, I have NEVER seen a 18 year old old look like them...EVER! i had to stop and stare for a bit!
As for the scene where young Dong Soo hides the stone in his pocket, but decides not to use it, I see it as a kid who is actually very frightened. It's his way of protecting himself - hurt lest you get hurt yourself. And when him and Joon Suk agree to call it a tie, i think it's a very strong indicator to their relationship with each other... although i dont quite know how it'll all pan out yet.
I am only on beginning of ep 2 but yes - so far every shot is perfect. I have never seen a drama like this.
I rewatched the scene in the art place twice. Just - it was incredible.

I saw stills :P I am still recovering :)
I am so impressed by Hyun Bin in this - it's so different from his other roles. I guess it always amazes me when someone so gorgeous (because he truly is gorgeous - not good-looking, or hot, or whatever, but beautiful) also actually has talent.
Re: stone. Yes, makes sense. He was very very quick to agree to a draw (initiated by JS - clearly already an out-of-box leader type person).
