...or would if I understood Chinese. Am still looking it with subs and so far found only Japanese subs.

Mmmmmm. I was looking for more Huang Xiaoming stuff on youtube and stumbled on this. OMGOMGOMG. Now I know that in addition to looking hot lugging a big sword and loving Crystal Liu, he looks hot wearing 1930s hats, lugging a gun and loving Sun Li. Mmmmmm.
And the plot of this drama, called Shanghai Beach (also known as Shanghai Bund) is so my thing: it's 1930s and he is someone who gets out of prison. His paths cross with the heroine whom he saves and they fall in love. Her father is a big Triad boss and hires him and his friend, but HXM finds out Daddy is helping the Japanese, wants out, and so becomes a hunted man...(side note: unless you really want to be spoiled, do not read wiki summary).
I want this so badly, I can taste it. Argh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why must most of my TV tastes be so hard to find in English? But just look at it! Seriously. Mob. Star-crossed love. Japanese invasion. Hats. Revenge. Oh, well, I'll solace myself with this pretty awesome vid.
