I am going to rewatch Seasons 1 and 2 of Veronica Mars, one of my favorite TV shows (I like to pretend S3 does not exist, thank you very much

For me, I am not sure what would trump: shipping the heroine with guy who thought she was his half-sister and loved her anyway or shipping the heroine with abuse victim with a death wish the size of Nevada. It was all almost drama-worthy!
Funnily enough, in pure theory, the D/V would appeal to me much more, but because of chemistry and the way it was acted out, I ended up a rabid V/Ler.
Sometimes I wish Jason Dohring would have gotten Duncan's part which is what he auditioned for -- it really would have been epic drama then and I would have shipped D/V in crazy fashion!
Yup, apparently he auditioned but UPN bigwigs were all 'he is not traditionally good-looking enough for the part.'
I really wonder how it would have turned out, because initially Logan was just going to be the antagonist and it wasn't in the plans for the writers to hook Logan and Veronica up at all, let alone make them the OTP. Duncan was going to be the true love and all. But then I guess they liked JD's acting or chemistry or whatever better, so they went all-out on L/V.
So it makes me wonder how it would have been if they'd gotten him for Duncan. D/V would have probably turned into this angsty glorious super-OTP or something. Missed kdrama opportunity!
I KNEW IT. I remember arguing with crazy L/V shippers that D/V was canon intended, and they pretty much laughed in my face (deservedly, I suppose, since they got canon in the end). But I knew I wasn't imagining things! Hey, validation only came three seasons too late.
I never got the crazy shippers or Duncan hate for that matter. And don't even get me started on 'Duncan is a rapist' thing. Since they were both minors and both under the influence of GHB, if you want to go there at all, then they raped each other.
Granted, I preferred L/V, but how did it hurt me if someone else shipped D/V? D/V was intended as canon initially but then L/V became canon. I confess to in first season basically shipping whoever V liked at the time. Show threw her with Duncan, I shipped D/V. Show threw her with Troy, I shipped T/V. Show threw her with Logan? L/V.
I confess the scene with Duncan in the driveway yelling at her with tears that "I thought you were my sister" is pretty pretty awesome.
Forget all the pairing drama, you know what I really loved about VM? The fashion! I remember a big picspam of all Veronica's outfits and how she threw together the same things in different combos like real people have to. I was in high school at the time, and it was my bible. XD

Keeping it in the family? :)
