Curious minds want to know...
In a mind of a naturally nosy person like me, East of Eden (I finally caught up and finished ep 20) raises a whole multitude of questions:
1. Will Dennis Oh ever look a little less than a tree and more like a human being? Song Seung Heon is a competent actor, but it's not as if I think he is the future best hope of Asian acting, but when he is next to D'Oh, he looks like Laurence Olivier.
2. Mike, Dennis Oh's character: if he loves Grace so much, why does he doesn't seem to notice or care that she finds him as attractive as a leper and is thoroughly miserable getting engaged to him? Fine, her father would sell his own mother for $10, but Mike is supposed to be nice and love her. Some love!
3. Grace's Dad: doesn't he realize short-sidedness has limited benefits? In the short run he will get what he wants and marry his daughter off to Mike, but if she is well on the road to loathing Daddy, does he really think she will get Mike to help him in his business or do everything she can to hinder him?
4. Is Dong Chul from Krypton? How can he be beaten every episode within an inch of his life with aluminium bats, boots etc and not even need to go to the hospital?
5. Is Dong Wook ever not going to be pure awesome? Please tell me the answer is no.
6. Did Myung Hun really believe he'd find marital bliss and rediscover his humanity by marrying a woman who he had tortured and who he raped and impregnanted? Is he really shocked she does not love him and is turning to the dark side? [Side note: I wanted to strangle the soompier who said Ji Hyun had no right to bring up her rape to Myung Hun because she agreed to marry him so he didn't force her to marry him. Whaaaaaat?]
7. Will Dong Chul ever rip off Grace's clothes and make hot hot love to her? I don't care if after that they go their separate ways or die or whatever. But to have all that psychotic chemistry without make-outs makes Baby Jesus weep.
8. Will I ever become interested in Hye-Rin in the slightest? 20 eps in and I am still bored by her. I am bored by her with Dong Wook. I am bored by her with her family. I am bored by her with her sis' fiance. I am bored by the possibility of her with Dong Chul. Normally I adore Lee Da Hae, so writers, give her something interesting or write her out.
9. Will Song Seong Heon remove his shirt again, plz?
10. Is this the slashiest drama or what?
11. Am I alone in wanting Wang Gun, Dong Chul's new nemesis and Ki Soon, Dong Chul's half-sister, to make out. She can redeem him etc. I mean, she used to call him Mr. Angel when they were younger. He kidnapped her to get Dong Chul to come to him but backhanded the man who dared hit her. She jumped in front of him to protect him from his brother's goons. There is staring. Come on!
