I think I blocked the child abuse bit out but now you reminded why I stopped watching this (apart from "This is in AMERICA"), Too much of bad stereotypes.
But keep with your posts. :D I might be persuaded to start again. :D
Re: stereotypes. I don't know it didn't strike me as stereotyped (or more so than usual) and not really about American stereotypes: basically, they are treating US in a lot of ways as if the story was set in Korea: there are certainly plenty of abusive parental figures, mobsters etc in dramas that are set in Korea, so they just have them in whatever environment the story is set.
basically, they are treating US in a lot of ways as if the story was set in Korea That was one thing that crossed my mind. There'll be some sensitive political issues raised later on in the eps, too. I was thinking "how would Americans react when they see this?" ^o^
I am usually a bad marker for how people would react/realism of place as long as the story works. You should see how some Bollywood movies view US...it's LOltastic.
You should see how some Bollywood movies view US...it's LOltastic. Heeee... I think I find Bollywood cracktastic enough as it is, without the US references. Some actors and/or acting I find totally hilarious. Doesn't necessarily mean it as a bad thing, though.
yup...Pardes had Vanouver be in the US, Hollywood and Vegas and Florida all next to each other etc etc. Plus, Americans were all either slutty blondes or evil rapists. Pretty funny.
I think I mostly laugh at the funny way they sometimes speak. And funny because the jokes are too silly to not be laughed at :D I don't watch a lot of Bollywood though, just some of the more popular ones aired here. Like Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.
