Powerful Opponents: Episode 1 Screencaps and Summary

Apr 17, 2008 23:13

So.

Powerful Opponents

Powerfully awesome.

Any drama that opens with a shot of a hot guy in the shower is doing something right:

Notice close-up of scar on his back. I bet it will be important. Did not read stuff about ep 2, no she didn't. Also, good excuse to ogle.

Meanwhile, elsewhere, the Chefs in the Presidential Mansion, are preparing a fancy dinner:

For a moment, I contemplate how awesome and cracktastic would a cross-over with the upcoming Daemul be. I mean, a Presidential Mansion with a Hot Rebel Son and a Female-President Seducing Gigolo? Heh. Plus, you can never have too much Kwon Sang Woo hotness:

Anyway, where was I?

Oh, yes, the fancy party just started:

Mrs. President who I love just because she was Mom in Capital Scandal:

President's Daughter, an awesome Lady. But her husband annoys me. Prissy. They are both wondering where President's Son is and are sort of anxious. I guess they know they could be in trouble.

President's Son has awesome room, I must say.

President et al:

But trouble is a-stirring (Ehhh, I just wanted a close-up of his mouth):

He blares disruptive evil music so the family comes to see and tell him to come down and behave:

Minor problem. Not only has he evaded security and left, he has also defaced his own portrait. Can we say ISSUES?

Ooooh, what is going on with that family?

And he scribbled on the portrait something to the effect of 'Happy Birthday, Dearest Daddy.'

And went off on his motorcycle:

To engage in bit of illegal fighting which isn't coming along so well:

Purely gratuitous:

I keep wandering, do they use raspberry jam?

He basically ends up beaten almost to death, telling the other guy he wants to die etc etc. I repeat. ISSUES.

Secret Service tracks him down and gets him out of there shortly after the match. Just as well, as he can't walk:

Did I mention that I am grateful for the fact that Korean actors actually eat?

And his family decides after broken ribs, collarbone etc etc, not to mention tabloids, he needs more guards. After he gets out of the hospitals, that is. Gee, I wonder who they will be?

Crrrrredits!

Lady Bodyguard in the Secret Agent school:

Beating all the challengers:

Uh-oh. Her 'is there nobody man enough to take me on?' pissed off Hot Bodyguard:

Who is sort of closed-off from emotions and people, and even though he is the best in school, nobody likes him. He is also failing teamwork classes horribly. But anyway:

He beats her, and asks him to go again. It doesn't go any better:

And then he is all 'I think women shouldn't be here, and not use their gender as excuse' blah blah blah, which really pisses off Lady Bodyguard:

Alas, the results are the same:

And from then, it's war, because they are dead-set on competing against each other. After all, so far, he is ranked number 1 and she is ranked number 2.

Yup, even eating becomes a competitive sport:

Finally, they get into a physical fight (she jumps him) and the director of school, who is sick of it, calls them to his office and tells her she has lousy gun-shooting scores, and he has lousy teamwork scores. So he has to teach her how to shoot, and if her scores improve, he gets a good teamwork score, and if not, they are both out.

Oh, and later students gossip about President's Son and Hot Bodyguard leaves. Foreshadowing?

Sis visits President's Son in the hospital:

And he tells her not to come tomorrow, or day after tomorrow, or next week, or week after next, or after. And she is very gentle and tells him that this is what families do, visit each other when one of them is sick. You are awesome, Big Sis, dealing with your troubled brat of a brother:

Lady Bodyguard's brother, father, and grandpa all got hauled in for gambling. They are charming but useless and very selfish.

Hot Bodyguard is waiting for scheduled time to train Lady Bodyguard and making a raincheck on date with someone. Mr. Icicle dates? Whom?

After bailing them out, Lady Bodyguard has dinner with her family:

Until another nightmare altercation and situation. We really find out what a drain her family is:

Her dad tries to be a good dad, but too little too late, buddy:

Hot Bodyguard is pissed off because he waited for hours (because Lady Bodyguard was psycho late because of her family) and is about to leave and what does he see? Her crying:

So he is moved and thus is twice as brusque as usual. Oh, it will be fun to see you melt!

Meanwhile, head of Presidential Security asks for two graduates to help guard President's Son, which is apparently a nightmare appointment:

Next day, or so, she is trying again, without success, to learn how to shoot, when who comes in but...Yup, Hot Bodyguard. And a really hot scene follows:

BAM! I think this is exactly the moment in which we see him fall for her. She thanks him:

Yup, training:

I love this bit, when he asks her why she wants to be number 1, and she says because that's the best number and she will feel validated:

So big test is here and she does really well:

And OMG, he screwed up his results on purpose, so she'd pass him and graduate as number 1, with him as number 2:

I love you, Hot Bodyguard:

Graduation:

Her family didn't show up, and neither did his (if he even has any):

Heh. He pissed her off again and look how grinny he is to get a reaction.

Meanwhile, President's Son escapes again:

But not before listening to some (I kid you not) Bon Jovi!

Aaaaand, end! Guess who just got appointed to guard him?

OK, this isn't related to the above pic, but I find it interesting, what role the families play in the story. Lady Bodyguard's family is adorable but useless, and they keep putting horrible demands on her and don't even show for her graduation. Hot Bodyguard doesn't seem to have any family, and from what we saw of President's Son's family, his Mother is nice and so is his sister, though we don't know about President.

That makes me also wonder what happened to make President's Son act out to such a degree. Mom and Sis aren't all 'hellspawn kid had always been awful' but act as if something happened in the past. But what? And does it have to do with Hot Bodyguard? Because preview for ep 2 showed Sis telling him that she isn't happy he is here because that way President's Son will suffer more. Heh, did they have a big doomed gay love affair? :)

Also, either ship is so my thing: disdainful, closed-off guy melting and falling in love, or messed-up younger troublemaker falling for his Bodyguard. Argh, how to pick!

In conclusion: Lady Bodyguard is awesome, Hot Bodyguard could teach me shooting any time, and I adore President's Son like whoa. At this point, I don't really care who Lady Bodyguard will pick, because both men are YUM. In fact, I suggest she go for a threesome, and solve my shipping problems.
