Hot men with sharp weapons: Hong Gil Dong and Jodhaa-Akbar make me enjoy my week

Yes, I know I've gotten a bit Hong Gil Dong obsessed. No, I do not plan to stop. Here are screencaps from ep 14.

Got all of them from soompi, supposed to be credited to DC.

I just like this shot because of the steam:

Frankly, I have no idea what this is about, and don't care. I just like the thought of a sword at Creepy Goth Girl's throat.

*thud*

*double thud*

I love this bit with GD and Gom:

Ugh, Chang Hwe. I want to murder you. He is deliberately setting GD and his father against each other, is manipulating GD to bring down Lord Hong. Also, he offers to help get GD's men back only if GD steals the &&^%$& sword for him. Really, Chang Hwe! If Yi Nok knew, you'd wake up with bits missing.

Grrr. Why do all their awesome romantic scenes take place at night!!!! Apparently their conversation at that scene, according to hjkomo (I am quoting) from soompi is as follows:

YN: Gil Dong ah...touches his arm...I....
GD: I'm not going to die.
But I'm worried about you...am burdened...you're faster than an arrow...running after me...
......
So, don't be next to me. I have to run in order to live. I can't turn around to look at you/make sure you're there.
YN lowers her hand. That's right. Let go, just like that.
YN: then, I'll just watch from afar. I won't run after you...
Is that okay?
GD: Can you do that? Can you watch from afar even if I get caught?
YN closes her eyes.
GD: That's right. Close your eyes like that. It's better if you don't look.
She opens her eyes, and he's gone. (~ wide screen shot from above ~)

*dies*

He is about to turn himself in:

And that is why Yi Nok is so amazing. She watches Gil Dong turn himself in to save his men with this shining look on her face:

And he looks back at her. *dead*

Taken:

Do you know, I am getting the same irrational reaction I did every time Kenshin got his clothes torn (in this case, GD's are torn and bloodied). He is poor, he can't afford new ones, be careful! Heh.

Gil Dong is having a day from hell:

In case his day isn't sucky enough, he has to deal with Creepy Goth Girl, who begs him to sell out his comrades in order to live. (Note the difference with Yi Nok).

But never fear! Nutty King isn't all muttering about ghosts and killing peasants. For now, he is pleasantly surprised meeting a new courtesan candidate:

Who happens to be Yi Nok looking all gorgeous in courtesan dress (well, the cap is from a bit earlier, whatever)! Because she is going to act out as courtesan in front of mad King to help GD get the ***** sword. (The lady who was supposed to do it, couldn't). God, I love Yi Nok. She will brave anything to help GD and will be good at it, too! (I am dying to see GD's reaction to this though. Having to see her with nutty King probably ranks high on his list of worse things)

But, wait. Duty before pleasure. The bring the King a little present: Gil Dong:

And one of the shots I love. I think Chang Hwe just found out that his %&*^^ manipulation got Yi Nok at risk.

And in unrelated news, is anyone else excited for Ashutosh Gowariker's romantic epic Jodhaa Akbar opening this weekend? It tells the story of the marriage of Mughal Emperor Akbar and Rajput Princess Jodhaa and how it turns from arranged to love. There are palace intrigues, battle scenes with crowds of extras and real elephants, some scary hotness and chemistry, and OTP swordfighting.

I was excited about it but also apprehensive. Gowariker did make the awesome Lagaan and even more awesome Swades but this movie was taking forever which is usually a bad sign. However, the reviews are (shockingly) almost uniformly positive. Yay!
