This has got to be the most compelling post I have ever read.

... And where can I find this show? I was already thinking of watching it (mostly because I go by the nickname The Legend hahahaha), but you totally sold me on it!

Is your idea of sexiness a conflicted, complicated warrior with long hair and perfect features? Or a tormented, ambiguous intense hottie? Or maybe an aloof warlord with cheekbones better than mine? How about an anime-looking masked assassin?

You just described my "four pillar of hotness" here. Seriously, I don't remember any other film or drama (apart from LOTR) that had so many characters I was in love simultaneously.

And I agree with you - I also LOVED how women were portrayed in "The Legend".

Fabulous post - I'll add this to memories!

Thanks!

And yes, I loved how all the women were so complicated and interesting.

I loved almost all the characters (well, not the Evil Elder :D) but yes, I loved most of them so much.

And the four pillars of hotness? Quite a fitting name :)

I think the producer/director made some brave decisions about the cast - so many of the main characters are newcomers. And it worker amazingly well, I bet the actors who played Cheoro and Saryang became very popular almost overnight. And HEE! - I can't forget your post "what fandom The Legend could have". I am just imagining the pairing opportunities there. :D

I re-considered my fear of the second season. NO! I want to see Kiha and Ho Gae re-incarnated and happy.

They really did take a risk. I suppose they thought BYJ is so huge they could risk it. And they were right, yay! It worked out very well.

Cheoro and Saryang became very popular almost overnight.

And so did Sujini, yay :) Btw, did you see her and BYJ accept best couple award? She is cute in real life, too (And BYJ looked quite yummy with his long hair, glasses and crutches).

I am just imagining the pairing opportunities there. :D

Oh, I would LOVE to have a fandom for this. It would be so fun. And I want to read fic!

I want to see Kiha and Ho Gae re-incarnated and happy.

I hope that is what they would get. I dunno, if they make a second season, what if Kiha isn't dead? I don't want her to flip out (as she would) over DD/Sujini and cause more angst.

I have just one dumb question: Are there dragons? Because the icon post you linked had dragons.

In the first episode, which is the '2000 years ago' story, one of the four deities (which get encapsulated in the symbols by the god) is a dragon (the others are phoenix, turtle and tiger). The main story has the dragon symbol (outline of dragon appears when it activates) and its 'guardian' but no real dragon :)

"An epic drama is an odd place for a bunch of strong women characters, but nontheless, here it is."

Actually, I seem to find them there more than anywhere else. It's a very large part of the reason for my preference for period pieces and fantasy.

You know, I've always thought Kiha looked rather like a dominatrix in that first picture.

LOL.

I think if she tried it, DD would probably burst out laughing. Though Ho Gae might go for it, they are twisted together.

Btw, Emperor of the Sea. How many eps?

Hmmm...between 51-53. I forget exactly how many, and my viewed DVDs are, as usual, blocked by books..
