In non-spoilery news, did I mention how awesome it is that we learned in ep 4 that Mick was a WWII vet? That explains the hard-headed attitude to killing and is also just generally an awesome thing. This kinda reminds me of one of my favorite comic book characters and OTP. Bigbsy Wolf from Fables. Basically Fables is about a world where an evil influence took over the world of Fairy Tales and the various fairy tale character had to flee into the real world. They don't die or age, they are pretty much a self policing community, the ones that look too wrong to look human (like giants or talking pigs or evil ones) are locked away in a community called The Farm ( ... )

Fables is a comic book sold by Vertigo and written by Bill Willingham. The smaller comic companies who aren't DC or Marvel frequently publish smaller titles that aren't really any part of any major superhero universe. So Fables established it's own universe. I actually think it's more noir-ish rather than parody-ish, a grown up version of our fairy tales ( ... )

OMG, sold.

The art is so pretty! That's the biggest thing for me.

I know you said it's a closed issue, so does it mean it's over already or not yet (even though they have a fixed amount of issues).

Sadly I'm not up to date completely on the whole thing anymore. I think they are up to 60 and I heard that they are now telling the stories of Big and Snow's kids. I heard some rumors that they might consider closing the series and continuing the story of the Fables with a different character (I think the book already started under the name "Jack of Fables"). It should also be fairly easy to just stop reading after a certain number of trades since the stories are fairly closed in itself in every trade. I know for a fact that the whole Adversary arc was ended eventually, so that might always be a good point to stop.

Comics are fairly easy to torrent, but I know you hate torrenting. So maybe checking whether your libary has it might be a good first step. 1001 Nights of Snowfall is a particularly gorgeously painted HQ prequel. I should have some issues in eletronic format lying around somewhere, if you are really interested and I try to find and upload them.
