Just finished ep 6 of My Name is Kim Sam Soon and eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!
So much awesomeness.
Also, I finally get the thing about Daniel Henney. *swoon* Not as much for his looks (he is good looking, but not really in style that normally appeals to me) but his character, Henry, is just...GUUUUUUUUH. Most awesome thing in forever. Though he could work on his acting a bit, I don't care, because Henry is still >>>>>> anything.
Except for awesome, angsty, angry-crying Hyun Bin.
OMG.
I think Sam Soon's former bf is total scum. His whole 'I don't really want her myself but can't think of any other guy having her' ego thing, when he is offering her to be his mistress on day of his engagement with other woman? STAB.
But I love how Hyun Bin is so unthinkingly, fiercely protective of Sam Soon. LOVE.
And OMG, they both were a bit sloshed and they kissed. They KISSED. EEEEEEEEE!!!!! So awkward and awesome.
But of course, morning after that, they are both trying to one-up each other that it didn't matter. Heh.
I really love their relationship because it's not a fairy-tale thing, or even a sweeping passion (he had that with Hee-Jin, I think, this idealization of love) but they are not afraid to be their true selves with each other, warts and all. She feels free to yell at him, he is crabby at her, etc.
However, I do like the hopelessly swoony thing, too, which is where Henry comes in.
OMG.
Henry!!!!!!
Please tell me he will win Hee-Jin at the end, because he is so amazing. Funny, and kind, and a bit odd-ball, and so in love with her, but not pushing it. I sort of want to smack hee-Jin, hard, not just for her passive-agressive games with Hyun Bin (the whole coming to hi apartment and then not telling him the truth after all, come on!) but also for the way she is with Henry. She tells him, and it's like a joke, that her heart doesn't race when she is with him etc etc etc. But honey, seriously, even though you both steadfastly pretend you are just friends, you have to know no guy is going to fly all the way to Korea just to see you, if there wasn't something more on his part. Even a blind person an see, but she is being wilfully blind because she is being selfish.
My fave scene though involved her. And Hyun Bin. When they have a confrontation in his apartment and he tells her how he searched all the colleges, and how he used to wonder if she left him because of his legs or another man. And how he took sleeping pills and slept for a week. And she walks out and he tells her to get out of the elevator and she won't and he looks on, and starts crying.
See, that is why I don't like Hee-Jin. She honestly thinks she doesn't owe a huge, grovelling apology (yes, I know her reason, still...) And a full explanation ASAP. And she is also deluded enough to think none of this matters, he should just be ready to take her in with open arms. There would have to be a lot of hard work to make this relationship work again, and a part of him might feel he will never trust her again, never recover.
But she is all 'I waltz in, it will be OK, no explanations, no apologies, no nothing.'
Ugh.
Don't like her.
