I rarely post, but this game is zarking awesome.
Harmonix took everything that was great about Guitar Hero and made it MOAR BETTER
First off, the blantantly obvious.
You can co-op a full band, guitar, bass, drums, and vocals. Karaoke Revolution, eat your heart out.
You can set different difficulties for each instrument, so your guitar can be on Expert, while the drummer is on Easy.
You get Group multiplier AND Individual multiplier.
Using the Rock Band guitar, you get effects during solos and "Overdrive" which is RB's version of Star Power. Personally, this is my second favorite feature.
If you rock hard enough, the crowd really gets into it. I just finished playing "Dead or Alive" by Bon Jovi, and the crowd was singing along the whole time, including the singer will stop singing and let the audience do it. They'll applaud with the music, yell for you during your solo, it's really fun and getting the audience involved interactively is by far the best improvement over any other music simulator.
You can customize everything about your musician. You can buy clothes in four genres, Punk, Rock, Goth, and Metal. Clothes are City of Villians caliber in terms of color options, and you get Torso (shirts), Legs (pants, duh), and Shoes to mix and match. Once you've bought something, it goes in your Closet where you can re-equip, and change the colors at any time. Top that with custom tattoos, make-up, earrings, rings, gloves, and moar shite, and OH YEAH guitars for days which you can ALSO change the finish and colors at will, means no two rockers are ever alike.
And your musician can evolve to fit the growing status.
In multiplayer, you get Fans, going better in bigger arenas get you more Fans. More Fans get your more monies and deals.
Then songs...there are some seriously kick ass songs, I haven't found one yet I don't like, then you can go on Xbox Live or PSdownload (whatever it is) and get more songs. New songs get integrated into your game, you don't have to go use them separately.
There is more, but...just play the game! It's actually worth the jink you put down for it.
