danaki, amyblack, the Depraved Walrus, and myself had an interesting conversation about hotels last night, and we had a bit of a revelation concerning hotels in Memphis.
Apparently, there is no Holiday Inn, Ramada, Hilton, whatever.
The actual names are :
This One
That One
That One Over There
The One Around The Corner
The One Up The Street
of course, there's The One At The Aiport
and the lost hotel, That One That Got Knocked Down Last Year, or commonly called Where The Mall Is Now
Apparently, memphis has a chain of no less that 4 That Ones, This One is in north Little Rock, and one in Cordova.
That One Over There is the luxury suites, with the de-lux accomodations.
The One Around The Corner is a nationwide chain, with at least one location in every major city aross the US, you've probably stayed at one.
The One Up The Street is a locally owned establishment, run by an elderly Arabian couple
The One At The Airport is a "charge by the hour" motel, where hookers and degenerates stay. The city is thinking about tearing it down.
Where the Mall Is Now is said to be haunted by the guests how have died there, but is fun to stay at, since it's actually quite lovely there.
Shadowcon, this weekend, is at The One Around The Corner, and is easy to get to. Becuase no matter where you are, The One Around The Corner is only 10 minutes from you.
