What a week...
I sorta lost my job at Schneider this week... Sorta.
I was pulled into the office on Monday.. at 2:30. My boss' boss and the HR lady told me my position had been eliminated. My accounts were going to be absorbed into the rest of the team..
..But they didn't want to get rid of me. As it turns out a position in another department had opened up that day. Bossman knows the manager over there and put in a good word for me. I ended up going down to shadow with someone and it seemed interesting enough. It was either take that job or my last day at Schneider was that Monday. I ended up asking to think about it that night as it was a lot to take in.. I talked with a few people that came to the same conclusion I did. I took the job and I start shadowing tomorrow.
The week went fine enough.. Felt happy and sad at the same time. My team had a food day for me and got me a Thomas Tank Engine toy that they all signed. I also got some nods from higher ups in the department, happy that I stayed on. It was a very nice Friday for me and I was sad to leave the department. There was also a Christmas Party for the department that I was still welcome to attend, so I did and got a $20 gift card in a raffle, so I got to go out on a bang :)
In other news Gamestop had its Christmas party over at Joystix, a local gaming place. It's great! Lines of TVs with 360's, PS3's, and a big screen TV in the back for Rock Band/Guitar Hero goodness. It was fun hanging out with them all and we had some great matches against each other. Not something I think I would do on my own when I have the comfort of my own home to enjoy, but a great place to go with friends.
