Continuing a thought
The last entry mentioned the correspondance between cars and boys. Reliant-Todd, Monte Carlo-Alan, and 'Ru-Josh.
As I think about it a little more, there's further eerie similarities:
Reliant:
* Arrived: Bought by my parents from the SC State Surplus.
* Left: Just got too unreliable. Needed to replace it.
Todd:
* Arrived: Well, not out of surplus. So my metaphor can't be stretched quite that far. Get over it.
* Left: I broke up with him: wasn't what I wanted/needed, besides, he had broken up with me once before.
Monte Carlo:
* Arrived: Bought new.
* Left: Crunched by a guy in diabetic shock, and totalled.
Alan:
* Arrived: He didn't come from a dealer, but he did help me buy the car.
* Left: Crunched me with a post-Valentine's Day dumping. I wasn't totalled but I was in shock for a while.
'Ru:
* Arrived: Located at a used-car dealership in Blowing Rock.
* Left: Still around.
Josh:
* Arrived: Not from a used-car dealer. But he did drive me to Blowing Rock, test drove the car, and taught me to drive a stickshift.
* Left: His status has changed, but he's still around and reliable.
And I have no idea what all that means about the shiny new boy. I'm not too worried.
