I've decided to give Radiohead another chance lately, as it seems like people are sort of wild for this band, and I wanted to know why exactly. So, after listening to The Bends, I am pretty goddamn smitten. Perhaps not so much for the more ambient-y later stuff, but I'm pretty much in love with Thom Yorke circa the video for "Just." Watch it. Seriously. He's such a spaz and it's utterly charming, not to mention the whole concept of the video itself is extremely interesting/puzzling.
Amos and Ashley are so goddamn POLITE and it makes me uncomfortable as balls. A lot of the time, when they see me or Johnna, they ask, "how are you?" in this really formal fashion. I LOATHE it. I mean, I've known them for two years! They could be like, "WHAT UP MOTHERFUCKA!" and hit me with a pillow and I'd be more comfortable with that, because at least it isn't how you would greet your elderly neighbor. Granted, things have been much better around the house, but still.
I've been having these really amazing and vivid dreams lately, and I'm not sure why. The one I had the day before last was about one of my friends, Nate, and I at this weird outdoor concert in what looked like the North-west or Canada. All of a sudden, he grabbed me in this weird hug and told me to hold on, then he jumped in the air like a rocket ship and I could see this amazing national geographic-worthy view of a lake and mountains. I love dreams like that. The one I had last night was actually more of the nightmarish sort. I was swimming in this water, feeling vaguely ominous because in the back of my mind I KNEW there was some reason why this beach was supposed to be bad for swimming. Then, I remembered it's because it was infested with COBRAS. So, immediately there are all these cobras in the water. I reach the shore and see that there's no way I'm going to get off the beach without just running through the cobras, so I do so, and get my ankles severely torn up. Then, I see that there are bloodthirsty wolves on the beach, so I start picking up the cobras and swinging them by the tail to beat off the wolves. After, I proceeded to walk around this downtown area looking like a zombie.
In other news, in the last few days I have:
-Read an obscene amount of Mark Twain for my english lit class. He makes me love America, and I covet the way he writes.
-Gotten a TB skin test for my study abroad application. I wooed everyone in the immunization office with my tattoos.
-helped to write a dorked-out Mock Trial version of "Ridin' Dirrty" (which translates as "Crossing Dirty").
-Had a ton of homework. Grumble.
My dad is coming to visit tomorrow! I'm really excited!
Love love
