I have a sickly feeling that Steve Cohen is going to be hired as the new clarinet professor.  The official announcent has not yet been made, but speculation is at an all time high in the studio, and bits and fragments of circumstantial evidence is coming in.  If Eban, my favorite of the three canditates, is hired, I will be pleasantly surprised.

Today I was accepted in the NU tutors program.  This is the first non-rejection I've gotten this year.  Hopefully I will be able to make a bit of money from it and finally get some teaching experience in.

My roommate apparantly has infinite free time.  I guess that's fine that every night he is watching a movie or playing a computer game.  A hypocrite of the highest order I'd be if didn't admit my own time-wasting habits.  But meanwhile this quarter I actually seem to be continually busy.  Between reading Hobsbawm's Age of Revolution, practicing the Prokofiev Sonata, work, complex variables, and running the occassional errand--oh yeah, and working out!--I rarely have to worry about what to do with myself anymore.

Today at Clarke's Melinda and I came up with a list of the academic's favorite words:
  • heuristics
  • hermeneutics
  • paradigm
  • dichotomy
  • profound
  • human experience
  • intrinsic
