purging

so, i'm going through things and getting rid of a lot of stuff. today i tackled my filing cabinet full of papers that i just don't need.

on the envelope containing my paycheck stubs and tax returns for 2000 is a poem i wrote in 1999. i'm not sure why it's there. i feel like it was in a notebook at some point. maybe i thought of it and was trying to remember what i had memorized of it. anyway, here is the poem. and i wonder what the heck it means or why i wrote it. i wrote a lot of poems in 1999.

stars in the sky,
purple cannot possibly be as wide.
concave reflexes that enable me to withdraw,
resemble those that have clenched my jaw.
tight as ribbon,
soft as silk.
smooth sour mixture,
rejected milk.
young hesitate to breathe, fly.
swim into broadness-
too deep for i.
