Alright, its almost June. First, just from the last entry, I was accepted by Kaplan test prep, but training got pushed back to mid-June so I haven't started yet.
I've finished teaching for the semester, so now I will spend all summer focusing on cranking out data in the lab. Not exactly my favorite part of the grad school process, but I'll hopefully get most of it finished before the fall. *Knock on wood*. After I finished grading final exams, etc, I started a round of IVs. We decided that we'd do them a little bit more regularly so it can be at my convenience, instead of waiting until I feel super sick to start them, that way I should (hopefully) hold steady longer and not get as sick, also, doing them when I'm not feeling super sick means that I can do them at home and not be trapped in the hospital other than a few days to get the meds started and doses checked. So far so good, I'm feeling really good :-) Still fighting with keeping enough weight on. I know, I know, most people would kill to be able to say that, but its actually way more dangerous to be 20lbs underweight than 20lbs over, so its kind of a stressful thing for me. Anyway, I'm trying to work on it without starting to hate eating. I've been doing much better since the IVs... so hopefully that will continue!
Got some family time coming up. My mom's dad will be here tonight (from Cali) and will be here until next saturday. Then my dad will be nearby for a conference that weekend, and then my mom's sister will be in town (from Cali) for a week. So 2 weeks of that. I'm excited for my grandpa and aunt to meet Steve. Steve and I had pondered going down to Philly in June to see my dad and watch the Red Sox play the Phillies, but they weren't selling single game tickets (you had to buy tickets for 6 games) in order to keep it local, so at least now that my dad will be in town I don't feel bad about not going down there.
I saw Sex and the City with Heather and the girls last night. I'm by no means a hardcore fan, but I've seen enough repeats on TBS. Seeing it in a theater packed with women on opening day was quite the experience. It started with collective gleeful squealing at hearing the first notes of the theme song as the movie started, and continued with simultaneous gasps, sighs and cheers in shock, awe and excitement at various points. At one point, when Miranda reveals that she hadn't had sex in 6 months, a lot of people sort of gasped, and then one women, in a very loud, very New Bedford accent, shouted "oh my gawd!", and everyone started cracking up so hard, lol. One really bad thing, the little microphone on a stick thing that is someone's job to hold over the scene that is supposed to be OUT of the shot was in and out of about half of the indoor scenes bobbing over Sarah Jessical Parker's head, no exaggeration, it was a little ridiculous. But I had fun watching it, and it was good to hang out with the girls a little :-)
