Heyyyy livejournal.
Not a whole lot going on now that summer has started. I had to take a drug test for my potential internship the other day. That was actually a pretty weird experience. The old woman, let's clear her my pee analyst, was intent on really talking to me prior to the test, perhaps to make me feel comfortable about my peeing. When she saw who the test was for, she asked if I intended to use a pen name. I told her that, in fact, I liked my own name just fine.
Then she told me a story about how she knew someone that goes to the same college as me, but they're sort of just shuffling through life. I assured her this was not the case with me, a real go-getter.
How odd.
Past that, it's been slow here. I serviced my car today (teeheee!) which sounds much sexier than it was. It actually involved paying 200 dollars to get a 10,000 mile checkup that included an oil change, tire rotation, and some filter changes. I realize this price resembles me getting "F'd in the A" but that's the price I pay as the owner of a German automobile. I'm cool.
In literary news, I bought Chuck Klosterman's "Fargo Rock City," a book about why 80s hair metal is awesome, and Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close, by John Foer. I decided to read the Klosterman book first because I figured it would be light and breezy and make me laugh.
But it's about 80's hair metal, as I may have mentioned. This subject has no relevence to me at all. As amusing as it is to imagine pale and nerdy Chuck Klosterman 'rocking out' to Ratt as a 16 year old, it doesn't make for interesting reading at all. I'm nearly at the end, and I just want it to be over. Totally disappointing.
I'm excited to start the Foer book though!
That's all for now.
