Lookin' at parked car windows to see your own reflection -- Life is still sweet
I’m not dead yet.
I am however back in lonely little Bartlett, waiting now for the Pitchfork Music Festival (2 weeks from yesterday) and then my birthday (August 29th!). The former date because I haven’t seen a live set in ages, and the latter because it’s the next time I’ll be with Claire again, and I certainly owe her a much better time than this last visit.
Explanation?
The goal for this trip was THE FALLZ. That is, Niagra Falls, complete with a bed and breakfast and winery tours and all that stuff. It was outfitting to be one hell of a time, until I started to feel not so good the day before the trip. It turned out that I got the flu or something else equally frustrating, and after one good day of health spent traveling checking out the falls, and gambling in a casino (truly a great experience all the way around, not gonna lie) I became even more ill and the trip was officially shut down. Things I (and therefore things Claire missed out on) cause of my sick? Tons of wine drinking, a second delicious breakfast at our B&B, a play that seemed like it would’ve been really entertaining, and, y’know, another night in our bed and breakfast. Terrible time to get sick.
The silver lining in all of this is that I found out my girlfriend is really good at taking care of me when I’m sick. She was a great sport about the whole thing, and just took care of me really well, got me ginger ale and crackers and toast and watched movies while I was layed out all weekend. Who has the best girlfriend? Me, motherfuckers.
So yeah, needless to say, the next visit is going to (hopefully) have a lot more going for it!
Other than that, life is still sweet. I’ve continued to work out of the house making bills for doing fairly little, went to a welcome home party for Nick’s girlfriend the other day, and that was a really good time.
I could do without it being 100 degrees, but I think that’ll be coming to an end soon, thankfully.
