To Apply or Not to Apply. . . What a Question

While perusing the Global museum employment page, I decided to check out their internship page.

Howdy boy am I angry at allt he great PAYING opportunities there are now!  I wish half of these had been around when I was on my internship hunt.  While I loved the ADK, the 12$/hr at the Natchez Historic Park in Mississippi would have been nice too.

Anyway, so I was hunting about to see what they had and I stumbled across a REALLY good internship with the Illinois State Museum.  Its an internship in Museum Education ((well shoot dang sign my ass up)) and its a full 12 month internship ((Sept. 1, 2009 to August 31, 2010)) and it pays $1565 plus benefits and extras A MONTH.

So do I or do I not sign up for it?

I'm sorely tempted to.

Its in the field I want, it would give me a year's background I don't already have and sorely need.

The pay is outrageously generous and according to my apartment hunt, cost of living in Springfield is even better than in Muncie.  I can get a really nice ((and in one case, newly built)) apartment for less than $600, which would still afford me plenty of money for utilities, bills, and of course my loans.

Its in Illinois, but Springfield is still a much shorter drive than the ADK was and I would easily be able to get home for holidays and such.

Plus, its a whole year, instead of like 10 weeks or 6 months.  It would make the move worthwhile at least.

My only qualm is while I'm praying for a smarter demographic, I'm not  as eager to give up my job at the hotel ((and my awesome supervisor position)) nor my pretty cheap living situation with my folks.  I don't want to quit this job, move away for a year and then when that year is over not have anything to come back to.  I mean I might be able to get my old job back but I bet I won't be the supervisor anymore.  I have issues giving up power to people I feel are inferior to myself ((and only one other person I feel is my equal and she won't want the job)).

Fuck it.  I'll apply.  If I get it, THEN I can start with the what do I do nows.  And I can always turn down the offer.

Where is Ball State?  I need me some transcripts!
