Dear Spike Lee:

I have a bachelor's in History. And as such, I feel that I have a right to raise a ruckus when someone blantantly rewrites history to suit their own needs or bastardizes an event to make it "more interesting." You took the words right out of my mouth. I agree with you on every point. As a fellow history major, it drives me crazy how people twist history around to fit whatever agenda they have. I have long ago stopped listening to Spike Lee when stuff like this comes up because of that. The world as we see it now is completely different than the world as they saw it during World War II. If there was segregation in every other aspect of American life during this time, why would Spike Lee think the armed forces would be any different? It is just so frustrating at times.

Thank you for backing me up hon. I know why Hollywood alters certian aspects of history, but history should not be altered to suit your needs. This might be a little extreme, but this is the only example I can think of that would fit this scenario is the Holocaust deniers who chose to alter history to fit their needs ( ... )

According to this, its based on a James Mcbride novel and he's penning the screenplay. I love James McBride and now I feel marginally better about the film itself.

Spike Lee can still go suck eggs.
