So I love Autumn because she bought me this really fabulous little book called America's Beautiful Quilts for Christmas. It talks about the history of the American Quilt and gives like nearly a hundred examples. I saw it at Walden's Books in Castleton Mall, but I put it back because I felt I had spent enough that day. So while I was wandering around in Literary Land, she snatched it up for me for Christmas (my one Christmas Surprise, lol).
Now the whole reason she got me this book was because I want to get a quilt square as my next tattoo. She figured I get some ideas. And I sure did. There are about eight or so different designs that I really like, but the one I am leaning towards is the 1930's applique patterned "Sunbonnet Sue." I've seen her before on patterns and stuff and she reminds me of a countryfied Holly Hobby. There are some really wild patterns out there, but I think I'll just go with the one in my book and work with the artist on color combinations (I was thinking red, white and blue and then scraped that idea in a heartbeat) and sizing.
My goal is that he'll make it look like a real quilt square and have parts raised and stitches and shit. I'll have to do my darnest to find examples of what I am looking for to help the poor guy out. But man am I getting excited about it. I'll probably wait until after Miss BSU though. Just to be on the safe side.
