Spring Break. A time for sleeping in, spending time with friends, relaxing.
My Spring Break? A time for frantically completing observation hours every day... which means I have to wake up at about 6am. Yikes! I must be giving speeches in my sleep.
On Monday I went to Alexander Elementary. It was a pretty interesting day, full of adorable, and some crazy, little kids. One boy decided he wanted to show me a trick- he stuck both of his feet behind his head. Oy.
Tuesday I went to Sheldon to observe a Speech Therapist in a 12-1-4 classroom. BIG difference. The therapy goals, let alone the therapy itself, was nothing like Alexander. Most of the kids used a device called a Dynovox, or a Dynomyte. They're boards with pictures on them, and you push the picture that corresponds with how you want to respond to a question, or to get something you want or need.
Today I had a Orthodontist appointment (which lasted far longer than it should have), and then it was back to Alexander, just in time to see Chase, who is just about the cutest 6 year old I have ever seen. I actually got to see a bunch of testing today, which was a good thing to experience.
Tomorrow? Sheldon again.
I've managed to rack up about 15.5 hours of live observation, which makes me happy, because with the roughly 6 hours I will get to sign off tomorrow, I'll only have to watch about 3.5 hours of videos!! (I'm sure I'm the only one excited about this, haha)
