It has been quite awhile since I have posted, and for that I apologize. Since my last post, seven or so months ago, I have created very little that was picture worthy. I have been extremely busy with school--or at least I was last semester. This semester, my final semester, consists of one class and working at hobby lobby. This past fall aside from juggling a full time class schedule, working friday and saturday at hobby lobby, and designing costumes for a main stage production.

Last weekend was the commemoration of the Battle of the River Raisin, fought in present day Monroe, Michigan. It was the bloodiest battle on US soil during the war of 1812. For the reenactment I created a new blanket coat to keep out the subzero temperatures of Michigan in January.

The coat is made of a thick wool and cotton coating fabric. I dyed it green and threw it in the dryer to tighten it up much as possible. I half expected it to shrink from a blanket size piece of fabric to a wash cloth size, but i was very happy to find i only lost a few inches off each side.

Here are a few photos, courtesy of Katie, of the ragtag american line.

The event quite enjoyable, and the extreme cold only added to the knowledge of what those soldiers of 1813 felt.
