wherein Dandy influences legislation

It works! Years after I wrote in 2001 how it should be legal to drive as fast as you want if Led Zeppelin is playing on the radio, John and I finally got the chance to test the theory when we got pulled over Saturday night as "Rock and Roll" was playing.

Cop Car: :::lights:::
John: :::unintelligible cursing:::
Dandy: Nonono, it's okay, listen to what's on the radio!
Robert Plant (on radio): ...been a long lonely, lonely, lonely, lonely, lonely time...

John, being the rational half of the relationship, seriously doubted my theory. Especially since this was our third traffic stop for speeding in as many months, and our luck had to be running thin considering we hadn't been ticketed yet. But no one can be expected to drive at governmentally-regulated speeds when Zeppelin is playing. Surely the state police know that better than anybody. So I got John to at least keep the car radio on while the cop came up to the driver's side.

Cop: Let me just take this back to the car, I'll scratch out a warning and you'll be on your way, okay?
John: ::stunned silence::
Robert Plant: You can thank me later.

And then the cop came back with a warning and told us to have a nice night. !!?!?! No typical copisms like "Do you know why I pulled you over?" or "Do you know how fast you were going?". He heard the Zep, and he respected it.

That had to have been the coolest cop ever.

heheh
