popular with the ladies

We just spent a couple days at the hospital for some (planned, minor) surgery for Alexander. In some ways, it was nice being there: one of the best ways to get him to calm down is to walk around with him - we don’t have a car, so we can’t drive him around until he falls asleep. Here in our tiny apartment, “walking around” is basically “walking in small circles”, but at the hospital, there are lots of long corridors to walk up and down.

Alexander was universally adored by the nurses (all of whom are women, most in their late 20s to 30’s). I don’t know if I hope or fear that he be that popular with girls when he’s older.

He went through the whole thing very well. Even when he was sore from the surgery, groggy from anaesthesia, and with a raspy throat from having a respirator, he was much better than I expected. Today he’s pretty much back to normal.
