Tokimeki Memorial Girl's Side (2nd Season) Character Introducion - Hikami Itaru
Hikami is in your year in the Tokimeki Memorial Girl's Side 2nd Kiss/Season series. He's a quirky sort of guy, idiosyncratic, and completely obsessed with astronomy, clearly displayed by his possession of a telescope on his balcony.
Exceptionally smart (discounting the fact that if you up your stats enough, you'll be able to beat him easily in the exams by attaining 100%, although his happens for Hazuki too, even though the latter's supposedly "perfect"), Hikami's also a member of the student council. I assume he becomes the head in the latter years, because that's the way otome games flow.
You meet either automatically in 1st year, or if you decide to take the plunge and join the student council!
Hikami is naturally cordial, not snarky like Teru, nor continually testing the boundaries of acceptable physical contact, unlike Weatherfield. At first he would seem to be rather bland, but is soon revealed to have many a peculiar characteristic.
On dates together, he often misinterprets skinship on the hand to mean that you need an escort, is insistent on wearing full safety gear while cycling to school, and places much importance on punctuality, dismissing the heroine when she arrives within a minute of the school bell. I guess he pretty much belongs in the 20s, and yet he embodies so much of what a true gentleman should be. Determined, ambitious, yet having the distinct qualities of self-restraint and sincerity.
That's not to say he doesn't have his faults.
During his first speech as part of the student council, Hikami takes the content and tone of his tirade a little too far, and earns the irate jeers of his schoolmates. Dejected and confused, he is left to ponder his actions for a little while more...
The most cumbersome part of Hikami's playthrough is dealing with your rival for his heart, Chiyomi. She's really sweet and one of my favourite Tokimeki friends, but once threatened by Hikami's affection for you, turns petty. I've not found the "ignore and desist" route in dealing with VS Mode to be effective, and so she took up a huge chunk of my time with playing with her, in order to raise her affection with the heroine such that she would give up Hikami.
The CGs in Hikami's route deal mostly with his role in the student council, and the heroine's part in that. Thus, it's best to go the nerdy way, and join the student council yourself, so that you can be privy to them. Ambition, I think, is a large part in Hikami's student life, and it continues throughout the game, although this mostly related to academics. He's mostly clueless about his feelings towards the heroine until just about the very end.
Overall a very sweet, somewhat innocent feel to the Hikami route.
He holds steadfast the unyielding values of a traditional man, only once relishing them to go-karts in the amusement park.
