Da ich dieses review auch auf egl poste, schreibe ich es auf englisch. Ich poste es auch hier in meinem journal nochmal, weil ich alle geschriebenen reviews beisammen haben möchte. :) Hoffe jemand kann es gebrauchen!
I got a winter coat from f+f for christmas, and since there were some coat review requests lately, I decided to write one. I hope this is going to help some of you. <3
I ordered in the middle of november and the coat arrived at my parent's place in the middle of december, so it took about four weeks to be made and arrive. I didn't order custom-size but a simple "US size 10" according to their ladie's size chart, as the measurements are pretty accurate (they say 34" bust and 26" waist, I have a 25" waist but I was pretty sure that'd be okay because of the tied back of the coat). I didn't tell them about the sleeve length (which was a bit dangerous like I thought afterwards, but I was very lucky and everything went fine), but the EXACT length from waist to hem I wanted in cm, because I heard they tend to make things too long. They actually made it a little shorter than I told them, but it turned out to be just perfect, so I guess luck was with me during the whole process :D
MAKING/ARRIVING TIME: totally okay for a coat that was especially made for me after I ordered it, so 5/5
I ordered this coat:

I can't say anything about their packaging since it was a present from my parents and the package arrived at their place, but it was definitely all wrinkly from the transport (which can't be helped, I guess) and it was full with tiny black fuzz which I'm fighting to remove, but it's very hard since it's a wool coat, and well, wool is a bit... fuzzy itself, so the black fuzz is caught in the wool hair. It's not that disturbing, but a little imperfect so I thought it should be said in a review. Maybe they make the black version of the coat in the same place and with the same sewing machines as the cream white version, that would explain the fuzz.
There were also loose threads every here and there which took me some time to remove. Nothing major, but still, not perfect.
ARRIVING CONDITION: 3.5/5
My greatest worry was the colour of the coat. I saw f+f name beautiful cream white coats "antique white" as well as ugly yellowish ones, and call both examples "ivory-coloured" at a different chance as well, so when I ordered it, I told them to make it look exactly like in the stock photo. I was VERY pleased to find that it worked and I got exactly that amazing cream white colour I longed for, so
COLOUR and STOCK PICTURE ACCURACY: 5/5
I think an ideal winter coat should have a hood for very stormy/snowy days when you can't take an umbrella with you. But I still liked the thought of a detachable hood cape for sunnier/warmer winter days :) So this is the cape I got with the coat. It is, like the coat, fully lined with some white, satiny shining fabric which is very soft and keeps me warm and toasty.
Detail of the front seam with lace:
The fur collar as well as the fur cuffs at the sleeves are detachable. Please forgive me for not detaching them for the pictures, because it's some helluva work to re-attach them. The elastics where the buttins go through are tiny. That's good because they'll widen over time and I wouldn't want for the buttons to slip out, but still, it's not easy to attach the fur stuff once you took it off. The youth of today has no patience at all it seems.
The sleeves with fur cuffs rolled down. They are lacey too, very pretty!
The collar with fur part rolled up. I absolutely adore that little stand-up collar underneath it, it's so pretty and elegant! Truly aristocratic feeling.
The lace-up-back. It makes a tiny waist and fit the coat perfectly snug to my body. It seems also pretty sturdy to me.
Everything seems to be beautifully made (besides of some loose threads which were easily clipped off). I didn't find any flaws, so
DETAIL AND OVERALL QUALITY: 5/5
Communication, as far as it existed, was okay, but I didn't have to ask any further questions, so I don't dare to give points for something I didn't really experience. As an overall evaluation so far, I really love my coat, it was definitely worth the price of $251.99 including shipping. It fits great and seems to be really warm and therefore appropriate for Austria's winter that can be around -15°C with no problem. Though there will always be even warmer coats, I'm pretty confident that this coat will keep me warm enough!
PRICE: adequate
WARMTH: 4.5/5
And because it's always good to see the reviewed clothing worn too, here's a crappy picture of me next to my parent's christmas tree before ironing the whole thing, but after detaching the fur collar and getting a sheep's wool muff from my mom.
