"Abandoned at birth, Sakurai Yuki grew up in an orphanage where he led a relatively normal life for fifteen years, despite strange recurring dreams and a mysterious ability to sense others' emotions when touching them. However, he soon finds himself unable to control this ability as it grows stronger over time, and it ends up causing several problems with the people around him.
One day, the head of the Giou clan arrives at the orphanage and claims to be his older brother. Yuki suddenly finds himself the target of monstrous beings called Duras when he is saved by a hauntingly beautiful stranger named Zess. Swept into a battle between powers he doesn't understand, Yuki must learn the truth about his past and his destiny in order to survive."
Unbelievable how good this series is, at least to me. I realized that I have always been drawn to this type (hence, the love for Vampire Knight as well, but that story has been a bit of a drag for me lately...idk....the feeling wasnt quite the same anymore)
Yuki - a sweet and kind highschool student living at the orphanage, but is also the reincarnation of God's Light. All his past lives were girl, and is Luka's lover. Born as a boy this time, it signifies a change in the story...
Luka aka. Zess - a powerful Opast (higher level Duras). He found his meaning in life when he met Yuki, betrayed his clan and swore to stay by Yuki's side and never betray him
The Zweilt Guardians
"Reincarnated over and over thanks to powerful magic, the Zweilt Guardians are the members of the Giou Clan whose sole purpose in life is to protect their beloved God's Light and slay all the Duras that cross their way. These young warriors are born with supernatural powers and can, by the power of their Zweilt rings, materialize their respective weapons just by thinking."
Touko - the only girl among the Zweilt Guardians, aka God's Ear. Very cute and cheerful girl. Weapon: a large sword called Eon
Tsukumo - Touko's partner, also aka God's Ear, but he's more powerful than Touko. Can use his hearing to someone's thoughts, or their whereabouts. A gentle boy who cares about other's feeling more than his own. Weapon: a gun called Knell
Hotsuma - aka God's Voice. Have fierce power in form of fire. He is short-tempered and hot-headed guy who only listens/trusts his partner, but deep down he is a kind soul with deep fear. Weapon: a blade called Master Stroke
Shuusei - Hotsuma's partner, aka God's Eyes. A cool intelligent beauty who is quiet and sensitive. Also the only one among the Zweilt Guardians that can put up magical barriers. He also carries a wound that he desperately tries to hide. Weapon: two short swords called Kurai Kurou
Senshirou - the only one that becomes a Zweilt Guardian by pure determination and hard work (he wasnt born as one). Humble, docile, and with a kind, gentle nature, he trained hard to accomplish his goal, so that he can stay by his partner's side. Weapon: a gigantic scythe called Death Scythe.
Kuroto - Senshirou's partner. His past partner was killed by an Opast, and he's been plagued with thought of revenge. Together with Senshirou, he carried a big loss, but it also ties them together. A loner, serious, but easily flustered. Weapon: a black kanata called Izanagi.
Takashiro Giou - The head of Giou Clan. Keeper of the Book of Solomon, and a powerful wizard. Hinted to have lived for more than a thousand years. Has to carry many burdens and suffer by himself for this war against the Duras
Kanata - reincarnation of Reiga Giou. Keeper of the Book of Raziel, also a powerful wizard, and Takashiro's childhood friend. A half blood (half human half Duras) . The one that raises this war against the Giou Clan, though this time round, he doesnt seem to be entirely evil, maybe due to Kanata's memories with Yuki as both were raised in the same orphanage.
Now I have a bit of frustration with Yuki throughout the anime series with regard to his feeling/attachment to Kanata-san, as well as when it comes to Luka. I know where its coming from, and I can try to understand his feeling at first, but as it progressed on, I found myself screaming at my screen "Cant you see that Kanata is not the Kanata you know? " because of his emotions, many are hurt in many occasions. And I am also frustrated at how slow he is at realizing Luka's feeling.
Other than this little frustration, the series is amazing. All characters are really well developed, and have their own unique charms.
The anime ends after the first encounter of all parties involved, marking the end of a major arc. From here on, the war just only gets more serious.
My fav characters so far have been Luka (no surprise there >.< ) and Shuusei . I think I have a thing for calm intelligent guy, and did I mention "handsome"?? yeah..that too >///<
Now its really too bad that the anime is head of manga release in English, or even scanlation for that matter. So even though Im dying to know whats happening next, I have to wait patiently. But check this out if you havent. Its GOOD (๑>◡<๑)
