Kyuhyun/Sungmin | bandfic (kyuwook, haemin, kangmin, hankyu) / Angst | G
765 words
Some people think it's harder to forgive, some people think it's harder to forget, some people think it's harder to do both...

A/N: first time writing hankyu, kyuwook and heemin, been a while since i wrote kangmin, and haemin sneaks in no matter what :|  // comeback kyumin fic because they are fucking adorable together and I regret dropping them for so long (except not really because haemin <3) // heavily inspired by the remix version of William So 's song which served as the prompt: 那誰沒有下次
A/N 2: written for gween_taiyou , don't expect much :|
Sometimes, when you're typing in a search engine, it generates a list of popular searches, popular song lyrics, recent news articles, other bits of social media that generates a lot of interest. When you're typing in the search box, how to forget, the most popular search, which is also searched by the most people around the world, that pops up is... how to forget someone...

Neither could truly forget the other, leading to that neutral ceasefire territory, that awkward void eventually meandering about their everyday activities. Everyone was delicate with them, treating them as fragile sheets of glass, thin and fragile, that they’d fracture with just a tiny bit of force. Sungmin would keep quiet, which wasn’t nearly as worse as when Kyuhyun keeps quiet.

It was to no surprise that it ended like this. Once upon a time, when soft words offered a foundation, when promises meant more than empty hope, they believed that they were in love. The concept was abstract yet simple, different yet common, dangerous yet enticing, and the two of them chose to embrace their feelings for one another. Never once did they think that something feeling so correct from the start would end up being so incorrect in the end.

"Hyung, you have to stop blaming yourself, it's not entirely your fault," Donghae tries soothing him again, offering whatever positivity he could. Sungmin merely nods each time, his mind drifting off and Donghae knows he's fighting an uphill battle. Sungmin was painfully stubborn, insisting that he contributed much more to their downfall, that he was the reason why they didn’t work out.

"Sungmin hyung..." Donghae tries again, because usually he somehow manages to get his way, but Sungmin pushes him away and smothers his face against the pillow. Sungmin wasn’t willing to forget Kyuhyun, because he still had hope, hope that they’ll only grow stronger after going through this period of hardship.

There was still attraction lingering in the air. The longing glances, stolen and obvious, flew back and forth between them, and for a while, neither of them approached each other. There wasn't really a solution because neither Kyuhyun nor Sungmin could pinpoint out the originating problem. It just happened, inexplicably so. Kyuhyun said it merely happened because of their volatile environment that tipped the scale, that the spontaneity of their career was the catalyst in all of this.

"Kyuhyun, you don't have to be so cruel to him..."

"Ryeowookie, I want him to forget us, it'll be better for the both of us..."

"But shouldn't you make the process gradual, so it'll cause him less pain, I mean, Sungmin hyung, he's breaking..."

Kyuhyun kept quiet, turning away from his companion because he didn't want Ryeowook to see the tears falling from his eyes.

Eventually, other members stepped in because things weren’t working. Sungmin ate less and less, talked less frequently to the point that even their stylists remarked that Sungmin was a lot less bubbly. The fact that Kyuhyun didn’t have his laptop with him fired off multiple alarms as well.

Heechul eventually calls Kangin, informing him of what had happened, triggering a rather heartfelt response when Sungmin breaks down reading his letter. Sungmin seldom cries, if ever, and Donghae winces because it’s absolutely heart wrenching, the way his sobs are orchestrated, an ensemble of crescendos, and he doesn’t know if he should comfort him or remain quiet.

Hangeng’s words fare no better after Siwon tells him during a midnight conversation over the phone, and Ryeowook remains quiet as he watches Kyuhyun sob, his fingers clenching and wrinkling the sheets of paper, scribbled in messy and broken Hangeul (with the occasional Chinese word here and there, he trusts that Kyuhyun has been keeping up with his Chinese since they are still promoting as a unit in China).

Sungmin is the one that opens up first, much to everyone’s amazement, and the two of them are talking normally with one another, and Hyukjae can finally breathe again. Everyone looks a lot happier, especially Ryeowook and Donghae. They’re joking with one another again on stage, playful touches here and gentle caresses there, they’re finally able to rework the mechanics of being together, albeit awkward, but they’re finally able to let go.

Oh, but I forgot to tell you, as you're trying to type the words, how to forget, once you slow down, and as you're typing the same letters, how to, f - o - r - g ... the search engine also gives a few suggestions, and the first one to show up is how to forgive yourself...
