Top10 Kpop songs --> Groups I enjoy --> Groups I need to like more --> Canto music? --> Society =/

So, two days before I hit 20, oh my god. Yeah, I'm still not growing up, so I've decided to namedrop/put together a list of personal favourite kpop songs. Idol based, because I still haven't uncovered the true singers of Korea, and because idols are pretty.

Tell Me Your Wish - SNSD
Sorry Sorry - SuperJunior
Timeless -XiahJunsu/ZhangRiLin
Lies - BigBang
Cry - Mblaq
Breath - Beast
Mirotic -DBSK
Run Devil Run - SNSD
Sign - BEG

Off the top of my head, these ten songs are definately personal favourites. Whether or not I still listen to them, that's entirely another story, and I have to admit that my current bias for Mblaq/Beast garners them both a top 10 for Cry and Breath, but the two songs themselves are solid pieces, so it remains justified to me. However, if I listed Beautiful/BadGirl or Y, then I would seriously judge myself.

Not surprised I have SNSD listed twice, because I was probably the most hyped about the release of RDR, the entire darkness theme, and Tell Me Your Wish remains flawless. Timeless was the first korean song I listened to, Sign, Mirotic, Lies are all solid solid pieces of music.

I need to appreciate more than just the groups hovering in the halo of spotlight.

Honourable Mentions
Bang
Midnight Sun
I Hope
Queen

MidnightSun has this mystic aura to it, something I really appreciate in music (much like Juno's Thoughtless right now), it just leaves me wanting more. Bang had one of the most creative concepts, personally, and I still find myself awkwardly singing the english parts of the lyrics.

FTIsland, where do I go with you. I think I'm getting used to the fact that you only have one singer, Hongki is flawless, don't get me wrong, but after a while, it does get a bit boring. Especially with their songs revolving around heartbreak and love and, it just gets reptitive. I Hope was a breath of fresh air, but I find myself listening to them less and less.

Groups I need to pay more attention to and look into in the future:

IU
T-ara
Infinite

All three of them have skyrocketed, and I have to admit I didn't like IU, nor did I like T-ara at first. Bo Peep was, dreadful, and I really really don't enjoy seeing girls with kitty paws doing some cute dance. No thanks. I always got the impression that IU sang childrens songs, but until GoodDay and Nagging came, I was hit by a train. Infinite, you're probably the second group I will always stand behind.

So what was suppose to be a listing of personal favourite kpop songs turned into an analysis of songs, then into an analysis of groups, and then an outlook toward the future. Obviously my in-class essays possess the same liquid train of thought, which is probably why I almost always failed them. AND STILL ENDED WITH A FIVE IN IB ENGLISH.

I would go on a tangent and start talking about influential Cantonese/Mandarin music that have accompanied me during my first twenty years, and that's probably exactly what I'm going to do.

Kary Ng
Hins Cheung
Ivana Wong
Eason Chan
Joey Yung
Juno Mak

I made a promise to myself, that even though I have already heard Kary, Hins and Joey live, oh and Miriam and countless other singers, I need to go attend to one of their personal concerts in HK. Eason is the king of this era for C-pop, do I really agree on his singing style? Probably not, but nonetheless his songs are very high in quality and his execution works for him, so I respect that.

Ivana and Juno are underrated, Juno makes some of the best music for me personally, and Ivana, I don't even need to say much anymore.

I'm getting bored, so this is gonna end prematurely.

Sometimes I wonder how our generation, the teens of right now, are going to run society. I get really scared, seeing as how I am a part of society that will eventually take leadership and continue leading the world, I really don't want to imagine how things are going to be like, twenty years down the road.

Signing out. Two days till I hit 20, something I'm not looking forward to...
