I hate hype over standard stuff. Makes it feel more crap than it is and then I get sad 'cause I can't appreciate what apparently gave it so much hype.
I don't like Leo.'s films either, really. 'Cept Catch Me If You Can was an interesting film, just 'cause I liked the guy's story in the first place - so that was cool. But Inception did seem interesting, reminded me of A Scanner Darkly, which I've wanted to watch.
1 - The director is Chris Nolan. Which I believe to be the best director of our generation. He hasn't made a single bad film since his debut. His directing skills are amazing. 2 - The cast is at an all star level. It's like the Michael Jordan dream team of 92'. 3 - First original film that isn't a reboot, a remake, or anything in about a decade.
I've been following the film for about 2 years, so the hype means nothing to me. I just love Chris Nolan. I love Leo too though, I'm surprised you don't; he's a great actor and has been in some amazing movies. His performance in The Aviator was phenomenal.
I honestly believe this movie to be top 3 of all time for me and I'm a huge movie buff.
I seriously recommend it. My friend Andrew said he could never watch another movie after Toy Story 3 because nothing could top it, but he retracted that statement after watching Inception.
I'm going to see it again on Tuesday, you should too. =D
Chris Nolan, is the director, and the screenwriter. Inception is a script he's been working on and off for 10 years. He takes the concept of dreams and manifests a labyrinth which he takes us through step by step for us to understand his process. This is the type of movie where spoilers don't mean anything. It's all about the journey taken with the director, as he holds the map. You must take a leap of faith, to join his dream world, so consuming that you forget that it's only fiction. It becomes a phenomenological reality where the viewer experiences something very unique and personal, only to come out of it questioning 'What do you really know?'.
That and the above statements I made in a reply before yours, make it one of the greatest, if not the greatest movie experiences of all time.
