I donated all of Dakota's stuff... food, crate, toys, grooming supplies... to a very in-need dog shelter. It made me feel much better about the whole thing. The puppy is happier. Other puppies will get a new chance at a good life. Everything has worked out for the best. And we'll always have the brief memories of our puppy to cheer us up when we're down.
Ephemeron
A shooting star, it's life so brief,
The sunlit fire - autumn's leaf,
The passing, swift, of Father Time,
The joys of youth and summer's prime,
A snowflake's fall on winter's white,
The lazy gleam of sunset light:
These things that last upon our minds,
Though brief, sublime, they do remind
Our troubled hearts of better days
And in our lives shall last always
Though never lift our sad souls' fog
Like sweet memories of our dog.
