so as i said yesterday, me and a couple people: molly, elisa, alex kurland, carly, rachel schwartz, and mellers did RELAY FOR LIFE to benefit the American Cancer Society! it was SO MUCH FUN... tiring, but fun. basically, what you do is from 5PM to 6AM you are supposed to have atleast one or two people from your team walking around the track, and then we rotated. there was also a luminaria ceremony where people could purchace white paper bags and wrote "in memory" or "in honor" of one of their friends or loved ones who is battling cancer or died from cancer, and then you light them up and line them around the track, and it was just cool B) i made one in honor of my grandpa, who was recently diagnosed with leukemia/lymphoma (it could be one type of leukemia or one type of lymphoma, they're very similar) he's starting chemo this week, and we are really praying for him that he gets through this! all of the stories of the survivors of cancer that were there were so uplifting, and really gave me hope that my grandpa will be able to get through it. ok, so maybe walking around a track and camping out on a field in a tenmaybe doesnt sound like the most fun to you, but once you're there, its just amazing... i think i got a grand total of 1 1/2 hours of sleep?? and i just made up 2 hours... i think itll take me awhile to catch up...
anyway, my point is, that not that many HP people were there!! so next year, hopefully there will be more publicity and you guys will consider coming!! basically you have a team of 8 to 15 people (the more the better, even 8 seemed like not enough people at times) and then you rotate who goes around the track. this year, our team collectively ran/walked/jogged 94 miles, and it felt really good afterwards that we were doing it for a good cause. :D
onto other news... these past few days have been so less stressful without school!! but while im sitting around and writing unusually long entries on my lj like this, or watching tv, i still feel like i have something that i should be doing! is this normal??? ahhh when will i get out of school mode!? hopefully after tomorrow when we go into get our grades the relief of summer will finally set in... ahh summer...
SUPY 2004 IS IN 13 DAYS!! it is getting so close now that when we were in our tents @ relay yesterday i said "wow, this tent smells like saranac" (the canoe/camping trip we went on last year... i included pics from it in an earlier entry) i really cannot wait to be up there with some of my best friends in the entire world once again!!
Broadway Musicals that I have this dying desire to see:
1. Rent
2. Hairspray
3. Avenue Q
but out of all of those, i think i want to see avenue q the most... i just have this special connection with the music, and it makes me feel all fuzzy and warm inside (is it because the characters are all fuzzy too?? lol)
we'll see what can be done ;)
wow, this was definetly one of the longer entries that ive written in a loooong time...
i hope you had fun reading my wonderful novel! :P
<3 always,
steffers :)
