Book Meme!
1. Do you prefer to read hardcover or paperback books? Paperback. I always take the dust jackets off when reading hardcover, because they annoy me.
2. Do you have a favorite place to read in your home?
I like to get away from everyone, so I find corners to hide in. I really enjoy reading while moving, so sometime I walk around the house, especially outside.
3. Do you have a favorite place to read away from, or outside of, your home? I read in cars, I read at restaurants, I like to read in the woods.
4. Do you snack while you read? If so, favorite reading snack? Popcorn!
5. Do you tend to mark your books as you read, or does the idea of writing in books horrify you? In college, I started doing this rabidly when it comes to reading 'literary' works (I'm an English major). But when reading fluff type of things for fun, I would never deface my books. It's odd how strongly I feel about both, in opposite ways.
6. How do you keep your place while reading a book? Bookmark? Dog-ears? Laying the book flat open? Bookmark!
7. Fiction, Non-fiction, or both? Both, though much more of the former than the latter.
8. Hardcopy or audiobooks? I cannot do audiobooks. :(
9. Are you a person who tends to read to the end of chapters, or are you able to put a book down at any point? Chapters. I try to read at least a chapter a day of at least 3 different books.
10. If you come across an unfamiliar word, do you stop to look it up right away? Write it down to look it up later? Just try to infer what it means from the rest of the sentence, and keep going? Sometimes I keep a sticky note list as my bookmark, and add it to that.
11. What are you currently reading? I'm on the Epilogue of Age of Innocence, reading the New Jedi Order: Star By Star, just picked up The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones today, am rereading the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, and am still trying to make my way through The Russian Debutante's Handbook.
12. What is the last book you bought? City of Bones today, and The Courtship of Princess Leia, which is my favorite Star Wars novel.
13. What is your all time favorite book? House of Leaves by Mark Z Danielewski.
14. Are you the type of person that only reads one book at a time or can read more than one at a time? Um, see above. I am always reading a billion books.
15. Do you like re-reading books? Love it.
