Just this week two people close to me have had their hearts broken because of the misuse of drugs and alcohol. Case One involved a married couple who will now be getting a divorce. The husband was hiding the fact that instead of paying the house bill he was using his money to feed his addictions. It all came out when they were told they would be losing their home. They looked out for my great aunt a lot. She is crushed and worried and has already had to make a lot of changes thanks to it all. Case Two involved a man who went missing. His son got scared and broke down and told another relative that his dad has been drinking and using drugs. The relative called the police only to be told the missing man had warrants and would be going to jail once caught. They were also told that if the man did show up back home that they had to inform the police otherwise they would be in trouble with the law. So when the man did show up they had to call and the police did come and arrest the man. Now everyone in the family is mad at the relative who had to call the police instead of the person who was truly responsible.
More and more stories like this and worse are popping up on the news all the time. It seems that most crimes are now drug and/or alcohol related. The ones that get me the most are the cases of child neglect, abuse, or wrongful death. It seems like children are dying all the time thanks to parents who have no clue what is going on in their homes because they are high on meth.
This week has upset my family and myself a lot.
