The background: Last year I joined Broad Universe (
http://broaduniverse.org/), a wonderful organization that promotes science fiction, fantasy, and horror written by women. One of the things BU does is hold "rapid-fire readings" at conventions. In these events, a half dozen or so BU members in succession read short excerpts from their work. I participated in two of these RFRs at DragonCon last year, and what great experiences they were--it was wonderful to get a taste of such a number of styles and stories all in one reading.
Last fall BU's RFR coordinator, the inspired and energetic Trisha Wooldridge, came up with the idea of doing RFRs as podcasts--and so was born Broadpod, which went live in February. A new edition is released every month, and each month has its own theme. This month's is "Maternal Lines," and I am one of the participating "Broads." I'm reading a selection from my work-in-progress (which is nearly finished!), Arise, Fair Sun. I hope you'll go to
http://broadpod.podbean.com/ and give it a listen.
I'll be participating in another edition of Broadpod later in the year--and now that I've whetted my podcasting appetite, who knows what else I might attempt in this medium....
