PUPPETS, A POTLUCK, AND KIDS FROM PROVIDENCE!

Mar 24, 2004 22:45

WHAT: Keep the Timoney Three Free Tour Puppet Show and Potluck

WHEN: Thursday, March 25th, 6:30 pm

WHERE: The Quaker Meeting House, 530 26th Ave N, on the corner of Torbitt, just off Charlotte.

The Providence Puppet Posse is traveling in a bio-diesel car around the east coast and midwest with two puppet shows and a message for everyone: We need to defend those who struggle for all of our freedoms!

This puppet show tour benefits the Timoney Three- specifically Camilo Viveiros, the only person who is still facing first degree felony charges stemming from the 2000 Republican National Convention. Camilo's trial is set for April 5, 2004.

Focusing on John Timoney, The Terrible Tales of Timoney uses humor to tell the story of the Police Commissioner's illegal tactics during the RNC in 2000 and Miami FTAA protests in 2003. A Wall is Just A Wall tells the stories of the lives of a few political prisoners throughout time. This show highlights freedom movements while putting the history of prisons in the context of various social movements. There will also be a zine distro.

The performance will be at 6:30 on Thursday, March 25. Bring a dish or a snack to share. (Volunteers for dish duty afterwards are more than welcome!)
