Words Meme! (From paperkingdoms)

I just realized that I have words from
paperkingdoms to talk about! (If you want words, comment!)

circus
I still remember in college, every time right around finals, I would want to join the circus. It seemed like such a better idea than finishing the semester. Obviously, I never did. But, it did seem like a wonderful idea.

rights
Well, what automatically comes to mind is the suffrage movement. Which makes sense, for me. I mean, I spent a full year with some amazing women and still am fascinated by the topic. I think there's still so much work that needs to be done in terms of rights, and what it means to treat people like human beings, to treat people with integrity, and with compassion. My hope is that we get there.

coffee
I guess I couldn't get away without having it there. So much of my life, it seems, has revolved around this liquid gold beverage. Or, I guess what feels like my adult life. Having worked for Starbucks for four and a half years, and thinking about going back (as a barista or shift supervisor, not manager....oh god, no). Coffee is nommy. And I might not be able to talk as incessantly about it as I used to, but it's still important to me.

storm
Ha! Had done this back when I first got this, it would have been a different response. But given that I've learned about derecho storms now, after this past weekend, it seemed ironic this is here. This past Friday night, we had a wicked thunderstorm that knocked out power for nearly 4 million people. We were/are in the middle of a heat wave. We ended up taking the guinea pigs to my parents, since we didn't have power. (For the record, neither did they. But they have a generator.) We finally got it back Monday afternoon/evening, so it was back by the time we got home. But, there are still those without power, even now. Crazy.

eventually
For this one, you get an impromptu poem-like thing.
Eventually, we get where we need to go. The things that matter aren't what appear on the surface. Eventually, we see the sun rise and we see it set. Some nights, there is an orange glow above the rooftops, and sometimes it's just pitch black when there's no power. But, we dig deep, we keep going, we give until eventually, we come to where we are.

globe
Spinny! I used to think I wanted to backpack around the world. Then, I backpacked around France. And that was wonderful and I don't regret, but I also realized that there really is something to be said for staying in one place and really truly getting to know where you are. That also said, I still want to do more traveling. I think it's one of the best ways to get to know yourself, others you may be traveling with, and for getting outside of ourselves and seeing the richness of our world.

grin
A smile is one of the best ways to open, soften, and connect.
