So, as you
all know, I ran 10 miles this past weekend. A huge milestone that still has me smiling when I think about it.
Today, I am thankful for an amazing running partner, good running shoes, for trusty wrist watches, for music, for the support of my family* and friends, for fun shirts to wear while racing and training (we did actually purchase the Highly Motivated shirts, as shown in today's icon), for learning more and more about my body and learning what it can do, for starting to move away from numbers-based ideas of what health and fitness look like, for personal goals and long term goals, for learning my limits, so that I can take time off when needed or push when needed.
We are ten days from the race, and I'm doing a mixture of resting my toes (did I mention that there's a wicked blood blister on another toe?) and tapering over the next week and a half. I am grateful for this opportunity. I am thankful for these experiences.
* I hadn't written how, at miles 5, 8, and 9, I had cheers from the "crowd" [my parents and Sarah] as I passed the mile marker at my parents' house. Those cheers were just as important as my training, especially at the start of the final mile
