Ya Know...

It has been far too long since I made an update but, although you have all heard it before, I have been super busy.

I have taken on a lot of responsibility this semester because I have started my part time student teaching and I am also doing an independet study about putting on a play. That means that quite a few times in the last couple weeks I have been at rehearsal for Beauty and the Beast until 1:30 or so and then had to get up to go to third grade at 6:30. So all my free time has been spent trying to catch up on sleep.

The kids in the third grade class are so smart and so adorable. I did my first read aloud and then they did a reading response about the book that we read and I was blown away by their insight. They went beyond repeating back the storyline and were talking about the emotional journeys that the characters went on. I was in total shock as they read their reflections to the class. The also seem to be getting attached to me. I only go for a half day on Wednesday and one of the boys saw me getting ready to go last Wednesday. He said "Miss Bellevue, you leaving?" and then he was all concerned that I wasn't going to come back on Friday. I was so touched that I had only been there a few times and already they are so attached that they want to make sure that I am coming back.

The other part of my life right now is my work in the theater. I am the Assistant Stage Manager for the two shows in the Wheelock Family Theater. It is so exciting because it is a professional theater and I get all kinds of responsibility. Rehearsals six nights a week has been tough but I enjoy it anyway. I have always loved watching a play develop over time and this production has been especially fun and interesting to watch. We are doing Beauty and the Beast and so I have been getting to watch the costumes slowly come together and now that we finally have everything done it looks amazing. The set is also pretty incredible. If you want to come see Beauty and the Beast let me know and I'll try to get you some tickets. It is running Friday nights with Saturday and Sunday matinees. Meals and a floor to sleep on will gladly be provided by yours truely. You know that I love the company.

But this weekend was opening weekend and so things are starting to get back to normal. I went to my first Math Mainia meeting of the the semester and we are tentativly planning a trip to Long Island to see a math art exhibit. Geeky, I know but it sound like it could be a really interesting trip.

In other news, Erica and Iris have started hosting a "Come as You Are" night on Wednesdays in their room. The evening involves crafts, yoga, food and friends (not to mention the occasional episode of The L Word) and is an overall relaxing time. I went tonight and I feel totally refreshed.

So that seems to be my current status in a nutshell. I miss/love you all and hope that you are having a good time at whatever you are doing!

Love,
Julie
