I can see why the blurb attracted you and at least it was well written. As soon as I read the 'let of the past' I decided this wasn't for me. And I'm with you totally in regards as what you said about Maggie still being affected by something that happened when she was eleven. Ah, rainbows & unicorns *g* I took that to be the way you meant it.

'Fun' fact: Caretaker has a different meaning here; so I was momentarily thrown, until I remembered how it's used in the US.

Yeah, I can see someone still being sad over a loss from decades ago … but I can’t see an almost middle aged (and otherwise functional) adult being in full denial about it … and an entire town supporting her denialism rather than getting her help.

Speaking of books that are and aren’t for you - I noticed on Amazon yesterday that Evie Woods (author of The Lost Bookshop) has a new book out, and right now the Kindle version is only a dollar in the US (regular price many times that). Since you liked The Lost Bookshop, you might be interested in checking it out, if you haven’t already seen it. I went ahead and bought it since it was so cheap, but I haven’t looked at it yet.

Well quite.

Thank you for thinking of me. I do actually have the book, I bought it a while ago thinking how good it would be, as I enjoyed 'The Lost Bookshop' so much. I started it and was disappointed. I wouldn't have thought it was by the same author :-( I might give it another go at some point, but it didn't grab me :-(

Then I’m glad I only paid a dollar for it. 🙂

I should have said - it’s called The Story Collector.
